About this site...
This site is for anyone who wants a Christian perspective on pornography and how to be free from it.
Pornography is causing untold damage to an alarming number of people, both those who use it and those who experience the collateral effects. I could have chosen several names for this website, but calling it We Don't Talk About That In Church meant highlighting the fact that it is taboo...which means people are given the unconscious message that it would be a bad thing to discuss. I do not see churches in England doing nearly enough about this issue that is causing untold grief. It is rarely even mentioned, and yet who better to talk about problematic issues than those tasked with bringing the Good News to humanity? What better resource than the Word of God is there for letting people know how they could be existing, transcending the dark things of this world?

The men for whom I facilitate programmes that address their online offending tell me of their wish that someone or some agency had been available to them when they were struggling with a use of pornography that felt beyond their control. Pornography can overtake the mind to the extent that people are led to dark places. I know that you are destined for better than that.
How this site works
Several years ago, I started writing a book that I hoped would offer Christian perspectives on pornography, for people seeking their own information, for people looking to help others who were having difficulty, or just as a source of information about a subject that, in the few books that are available in UK Christian bookshops, never seemed go into enough depth. It was to have a section at the back for people who had strayed into illegal territory. I knew people would be highly unlikely to buy a book specifically on that subject. Life kind of got in the way of writing, though I kept going back to adding and editing, so I looked into creating a website...and here we are.

There are pages that offer summaries of the chapters that were designed to go into the book, and the full chapters will be linked, for people who like details and references.

Throughout the site, you will see photos of flowers. These aren't just an homage to my fairly dire gardening skills and inability to keep black spot at bay. They are chosen deliberately because they are both beautiful and flawed. God gave humanity something wonderful in the gift of sex...and humans have degraded it with pornography.

This site is still under construction. Please bear with me while I both learn how to do that and upload all the information that I want you to have.
Why do I have anything to say about this?
My background
Having worked in the field of offending behaviour for many years, and specifically having worked with internet sex offending for 8, I have seen a huge need for prevention, so that people never even come close to committing crimes. All too often, the main precursor to offending was use of pornography that took on a compulsive quality. My hope is that I can do my small bit to encourage people away from pornography so that they ultimately keep themselves on a healthy path, whether that was ever going to become an illegal one or otherwise.
